Is it only a preconception, or is it true that Italians are more open hearted and easygoing? Can I absorb these qualities and make them part of myself? This series brings together images taken during my five month stay in Catania. It carries lessons I hope to return to. To love without expecting anything in return, and to pause for a cigarette and a coffee, even when in a rush. Time seems to move differently here, the clock slower, the sun higher. Improvisation becomes a daily rhythm rather than a reaction when something goes wrong. A question lingers, how can I keep this quieter, softer version of myself alive, ready to take over when stress arrives unnoticed? The grass is always greener elsewhere, but what matters is what I carry back with me, and how I use it to tend my own ground.
