Whoman1ity (2023)
The project emerged from a process of pattern-seeking, through which I began to notice a recurring oval shape. At first it appeared as a game, but it gradually gained meaning and significance after I encountered esoteric and spiritual texts addressing the nature of the feminine and its creative and reproductive power. The project also had a strong impact on how I perceive womanhood in general, shaping my understanding of the values I recognize, stand for, and reproduce within society when representing my gender and its associated characteristics. The oval shapes were not initially intentional, although they clearly refer to the vagina. Similarly, the light purple tones were not consciously chosen at the time. Symbols such as water, blood, pearls, and flowers all refer to this creative entity or force, both around and within us, that generates a complex, almost mirrored sensation, as if life is happening outside of us while simultaneously unfolding within. These findings guided me not only in this project but also in others, strongly influencing how I think about creativity in general, as a projection of this same underlying creative force.
